Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, better known as Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791)
Amazing – isn’t it?! I wasn’t called Amadeus. Quite a lot of people these days called me the wonder-child – ohhhh. In 1785 even my good friend Jo said to my father, Leopold : I tell you before God, and as an honest man, your son is the greatest composer known to me by person and repute, he has taste and what is more the greatest skill in composition.
Now I want to help Jo with his problem because I can’t imagine anything worse than my music being stolen. A certain Giuseppe Afflisio comes to my mind. He had been Impressario at the Burg- und Kärntertortheater. Quite a brat he was. In 1768 he prevented the premiere of my opera „La finta semplice“.
My father got so angry, he wanted to sh** bitter oranges…
