It is the melody which is the charm of music, and it is that which is most difficult to produce. The invention of a fine melody is a work of genius

Hooray, I finally got a memorial on my own after all!  Ah, I’m so happy. Now I don’t even really care who stole my opera. There is my gardenhouse with its little vineyard. I think I’ll retreat here for a while and compose some more music – now that Mrs. Haydn won’t nag all the time.

Now, a nice glass of “Gelben Muskateller“, a “Grüner Veltliner“, perhaps some  “Furmint“… or a glass of each? Oh, but only after noon…

Oh, this reminds me, I once composed a cycle of symphonies named after the times of day (“Die Tageszeiten“). If only I could remember their names and which numbers they have in my registry… I believe this could be important, I’m sure it’s written down here somewhere.
