Jo and wine

This is a section of a very famous Viennese song and Jo wouldn’t have changed the lyrics one bit.
He really wasn’t an alcoholic, but with wine he could make an exception… It´s said that he never drank more than a pint per day. Although there are some historical inconsistencies! Count Nikolaus approved to pay Jo not only a lot of money but also 9 buckets of wine a year, that are roughly 500 liters. That’s 1 1/3 liters a day!.
But that wasn’t enough for Jo – in December of 1771 he complained that because the times are tough and expensive, you need to pay double the expenses for your livelyhood. So the Count was giving him one bucket of wine per month (so to say 12 buckets a year)… do the math 😉
