Jo and women
My wife was incapable of conceiving children, because of that, advances of other women were not making me feel indifferent.
Jo felt misunderstood by his wife. Well, they didn’t have the most romantic start. Jo wanted to marry the younger sister but since she ended up in an nunnery he married her older sister and became very unhappy.
During his life he appreciated many women, which resulted in a lot of letters.
He would’ve loved to marry Luigia Polzelli. For Marianne von Genzinger (platonic relationship) he wrote the sonata HobXVI/49 and to Rebecca Schroeter he was writing some love letters.
